Work history of Barbara Heinzer

Dipl. naturopath of classical homeopathy HWS | ZSR Nr. S968663

About me:

I was born and raised in Ittigen, Canton Bern. After the birth of my son I decided to reorient myself professionally and therefore I started the 5-year course of study at the HWS in Basel to become a certified naturopath in classical homeopathy.

My philosophy:

When my son was born in 2004, it changed my life completely. He was born prematurely and was diagnosed with ADHD and various learning difficulties at an early age and this is why I discovered my fascination for medicine. Unfortunately, my son often reacted to medication with very strong side effects and thus I started looking for alternatives and became more and more involved with the gentle healing method of homeopathy and its effects. Over the years, I more and more felt the strong desire to share my experience and knowledge with other people in order to help them. Therefore, I decided in 2015 to take up the 5-year study as a certified naturopath of classical homeopathy at the HWS in Basel.

When can homeopathy be helpful?

Homeopathy is a holistic method, which has been applied since 1790 to treat chronic and acute conditions gently and effectively. Each person experiences pain and illness individually. Consequently, in homeopathy it is essential to understand the person and all his/her sensations and symptoms holistically with the help of conversations, in order to be able to prescribe the respective tailor-made medicine.

Fields of application:

Homeopathic remedies are administered as globules or drops, do not cause any side effects and act on the physical as well as on the psychological level. Due to the gentle therapy method, the remedies can be administered simultaneously with conventional medicines, during pregnancy and even from infancy.

History of Homeopathy:

Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) was a German physician, pharmacist and chemist who was extremely critical towards the medical treatment methods of his time. He disapproved of the methods in use at the time, such as bloodletting and cupping, which caused him to temporarily resign from his activities as a general practitioner. In 1790, he came across a reference to the effects of cinchona bark, which prompted him to conduct his most famous self-experiment to date.

The intake of the cinchona bark triggered malaria-like symptoms in him, which means, exactly the same symptoms that are normally treated with this remedy. Based on many experiments, he thus formulated the principle of similarity "Similia similibus curentur", which is still valid in homeopathy today.
